To Lose Your Life...

This song by Andrew Peterson has been ministering to my heart so much the last few days. I hold so much hope, excitement and anticipation within me about our wedding, I sometimes feel like I'm just brimming over.

I can't wait to say my vows to Matt and make a promise that is everlasting, completely binding, and best of all, a picture of Jesus Christ's love for his Church.

I once heard that the love of God, and his sacrifice in Jesus Christ for us, is a frame for us to place our wedding picture in.

I want to be a wife who lays down her life for her husband the way Christ laid down his life for his Church ... for me and for you. I want to live that out every day. To sacrifice myself for the love of my life. And I know I can't do it in my own power. I can't even begin to. Only through Jesus' strength can I love Matt well.

I know without a doubt that marriage, and life in general, will eventually be "harder than we dreamed that it could be." But I have no fear at all that, with Christ at the center of our relationship, Matt and I can accomplish anything. Face anything. Walk through anything. Together. Clinging to Jesus. Always.

I can't wait to start that journey!

Dancing in the Minefields
by Andrew Peterson
Well I was 19 you were 21
The year we got engaged Align CenterEveryone said we were much to young
But we did it anyway
We got the rings for 40 each from a pawnshop down the road
We said our vows and took the leap now 15 years ago

We went dancing in the minefields
We went sailing in the storm
And it was harder than we dreamed
But I believe that’s what the promise is for

Well ‘I do’ are the two most famous last words
The beginning of the end
But to lose your life for another I’ve heard is a good place to begin
Cause the only way to find your life is to lay your own life down
And I believe it’s an easy price for the life that we have found

And we’re dancing in the minefields
We’re sailing in the storm
This is harder than we dreamed
But I believe that’s what the promise is for
That’s what the promise is for

So when I lose my way, find me
When I lose loves chains, bind me
At the end of all my faith
to the end of all my days
when I forget my name, remind me

Cause we bear the light of the son of man
So there’s nothing left to fear
So I’ll walk with you in the shadow lands
Till the shadows disappear
Cause he promised not to leave us
And his promises are true
So in the face of all this chaos baby
I can dance with you

So lets go dancing in the minefields
Lets go sailing in the storms
Oh lets go dancing in the minefields
And kicking down the doors
Oh lets go dancing in the minefields
And sailing in the storms
Oh this is harder than we dreamed
But I believe that’s what the promise is for
That’s what the promise is for

  2. My dearest girl......
When you begin with that attitude, you are certain to survive all the storms that life will throw your way!

I will always be praying for you along the way! I'm so proud of both of you!

Dearest Friend, I loved this post! Such a good reminder that is always needed. I remember right before our wedding the words came out of my mouth in a prayer "Teach me to be what he needs". It was not by my own power that I even knew or thought to say those words. God brought them to my heart and I pray them everyday. Its a learning process. I'm so excited for you!

Well hello there! You just made my day!
