New Chairs for the Living Room

They're here! My brand new, very grown up pair of chairs for the living room! And they are beautiful! It took us a few weeks to have the time to take them from their giant boxes and haul them up to our apartment, but now that they're in I'm totally in love. They are gorgeous!

Before, with the oversized chair that was too big for the room

And after, with the much smaller club chairs, just right for the room.

I had the worst time with the light in these photos, so sorry it's a little weird. The sun was shining in from the window, but everything else was dark and shadowy. My photography knowledge only went so far, so this is all I could manage : )

Aren't the chairs perfect in the room? I can't overstate enough just how small this room is, which really calls for small furniture. These fit the room perfectly, although will be pretty as side chairs in some other house with a bigger living room...someday.

The legs of the chairs were very important to me. I saw so many with body styles I liked, but chunky blocks for the legs. These have elegant turned wood legs with antiqued brass casters. They make the chair, in my opinion.

The fabric is soft and nubby, much the same as a grain sack (or a finer version of a painter's drop cloth).

You can't really tell in the pictures, but the linen color is quite different from my oatmeal colored drapes. I will be replacing the drapes with these very soon I think.

I moved my salvaged door to this corner for height, along with the cream wicker trunk. This corner isn't quite right yet, but I'll keep playing with it. The white spindle table was a $20 find from Sparks.

I would like to have pillows made for the chairs out of grain sacks, but I already had these vintage-inspired pillows on hand, so they work for now.

Aren't the rolled arms lovely?

Couldn't resist a shot of the mercury glass!

There you have it...real, grown up furniture gracing our little newlywed first apartment! What do you think? Do you like them? I sure do : )
