Powder Room Reveal

We are having our first out-of-town guests this weekend and I'm hosting a baby shower the weekend after that, so to say I've been on a bit of a decorating tear would be an understatement! I got home from work on Friday night and tore into the powder room. Needless to say, I am not the best with measuring/leveling/drilling and it probably took me longer than it should have to install the shelving. But some elbow grease and several hours later and we finally have a much fresher looking powder room!

Here's the jumping off point...

And the finished product (a complete source list is at the bottom of the post)...

I think the change that helped the most is the sink skirt. You won't believe it but I used hot glue to make it! I don't sew, and was going to use hem tape, but got too impatient and hot glued it together in about 10 minutes. I think it looks just fine!

It's made from this upholstery-grade linen and a $3 tension rod from Target. It was a simple, cheap way to soften the space and make it look more custom without buying a new vanity.

In the corner I hung decorative ledges from Target to add some interest, as well as two framed prints. The frame I had originally planned to use (in the inspiration board) was sold out online, but I stumbled across these in our storage room and they worked perfectly! And free is even better! I just printed the two photos found on Pinterest on cardstock.

Just a few accessories make such a difference in the space! It adds tons of interest where there was none.

I also replaced the mirror with this vintage one I had in the garage. It adds some character and shape to the space.

As you can see, I didn't add the roman shade like I was planning to. I just never could find the right fabric and was ready to be done with the project, so I may work on it eventually.

Most of the accessories came from TJ Maxx or are vintage. I do intend to get the hobnail candle from World Market, but they hadn't arrived at our local store yet. The wicker candle is from another room in the house but worked for the photos.

I always loved the combination of the little farmhouse stool and a wire basket in our last bathroom, so I added that again here. I think it finishes off the room perfectly!

This has turned into one of my favorite projects in the house so far! It's amazing to me how far just a few accessories and some styling goes to make a room feel completely different! Hope you enjoyed the make over!

Paint Color: Coventry Gray by Benjamin Moore
Sink Skirt Fabric: Jo Ann Fabrics
Hand Towel: TJ Maxx
Soap: JR Watkins Apothecary
Mirror: Flea Market
Shelves: Target
Accessories: TJ Maxx and vintage

  1. Love the soothing colors! Did you try placing the flap basket on top of toilet and keep a roll of toilet paper in it? Then place the wire basket on top shelf filled with extra tp. I think it would make the floor space where stool and trash can are to feel less cluttered. Also I would fix the wall crack that is visible by soap dispenser and add caulking down the sink trim.

  2. Aww, It's beautiful! The sink skirt and vintage mirror with the stool and wire all so pretty together. Your guest will all love it.

  3. LOVE your bathroom!!! It is one of my favorite bathrooms ever! I am bummed that your gorgeous towel came from TJ Maxx because I'm betting mine won't carry them! I think I pinned almost every picture of your room! lol!

Well hello there! You just made my day!
