12th and White Sale {Where, When, and the Goods}

It's here! It's finally the week of the 12th and White Sale! I've been planning and purchasing for this day since March so it's a little surreal that it's finally happening. Most everything has been cleaned and priced, my dining room is overflowing with goodies, Joey is putting the finishing coats on all her furniture, and everything is coming together. Hooray!

Last week I hit an absolutely amazing estate sale filled to the brim with antiques, including my favorite ironstone. I fought every other antique dealer in the city to get to the goods and managed to come away with a pretty decent haul of ironstone. I thought I'd share those pretty pictures today while chatting about what to expect from the sale for those of you who plan to attend.

The sale is this Saturday, September 6, at 6305 E. 12th Street on the east side of Wichita, KS. This is at 12th and Woodlawn, a block south of 13th and Woodlawn (from Woodlawn, just turn west onto 12th and you're there). It is an outdoor sale, so just an fyi there. It shouldn't be muddy or anything, but just a heads up that it is an outdoor event (sorry, restrooms are not available on site). There should be ample parking along 12th street, but you could also park in the former Dillon's lot and walk just south to the sale site. Please just leave the driveway clear for those loading up purchases.

Things will be in full swing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For the best selection, I'd come right at opening.

I've tried to curate a collection of some of my signature items for you - a mix of finds for the home. There will be many true, quality antiques, but there will also be cute things for the girls looking for the "vintage look" but not wanting to pay antique prices. I do try to keep prices very fair so there is something for everyone. Things start at about $3 and go up from there. Most items are under $50, but there are some very special pieces that are priced accordingly. The most expensive item other than furniture is $125. Hopefully that gives you a nice idea of price range.

Because the sale is a curated collection, prices are firm. I really do love to bargain at flea markets, but I've tried to price things well, so there is not much "margin" for me to be able to bargain with. However, I will begin to slash prices around 2 p.m. so come a bit later if you're looking for a deal!

You can expect a nice selection of ironstone, wire baskets, crates and other vintage storage, vintage accessories like silver, framed art, farmhouse scales and garden decor, pillows, vintage textiles, chalk boards, wicker baskets, marble lamps and lots more. I hand selected each and every piece and love each one! I never sell anything I wouldn't put in my own home, and there are some really gorgeous items I'll have a hard time parting with : ) Hopefully you'll find a few things you love too!

As far as furniture goes, there is an antique church pew, a farmhouse table (not dining size), French Provencial dining table with six black metal tolix chairs (I'm seriously obsessed with this set!), a curvy antique dresser with lots of detail and great legs, three other dresser/chests of varying sizes, a bookcase, an antique glass front cabinet, a desk, vanity, marble topped chest, a sweet twin bed, and maybe a few other pieces I'm forgetting. Joey is a world class furniture painter (she helped me redo my dining set) and it will all be gorgeous! She uses mostly Annie Sloan chalk paint, which is such a beautiful finish.

Expect to have fun! Expect eye candy! Expect beautiful home decor! I really feel so thrilled about what Joey and I are offering at this sale. We both have to admit we are a bit nervous - we are just two girls doing what we love. This isn't a ginormous sale - not even a barn sale. It's more a curated collection of unique finds. We are both secretly afraid of disappointing (I'm sure we won't, but you understand that feeling!) so we want to be upfront that this is not a huge event. It'll be simple, sweet, stylish and lots of fun.

What can I say...cash is king! We will gladly accept your cash, and if you have a purchase over $50, we'll also have a Square to run credit cards (I know bringing cash for that new dresser you're going to buy might be a bit difficult : ) If you would like a piece you can't carry to the check out, just pull the tag and take it to the check out when you're ready.

We will have some packaging/bags, but I recommend bringing your own padding if you plan to buy much. I recommend something like your favorite flea market bag and a bit of bubble wrap. If you're buying furniture, it might be good to bring help (we can arrange later pick up if needed). My husband Matt and some other helpers will be available to load purchases, but it's always a good idea to bring a helping hand if you can.

My incredibly talented mother-in-law will also have some delicious sweets available for you to enjoy. She is an amazing baker with her own sweets business, and I heard talk of macarons, spritz cookies, meringues and other goodies. Yum!

I know most of my amazing blog readers are probably not local, so if you can't make it, rest assured that whatever doesn't sell will be up for sale online. And thank you for your patience as I've talked sale for so long on here : )

Alright - anything I've missed? If I've forgotten to cover something or if you have a specific question, just leave it in the comments and I'll be sure to get back to you. I can't believe sale week is finally here! Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement leading up to this day. Everyone has been so sweet and supportive, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Hopefully you will love what you find as much as I loved finding it for you! I truly hope you leave inspired and with some beautiful new goodies for your home.

If you'd like to share the sale, I would of course be forever grateful. The Facebook event is here, and I've been using hashtag #12thandwhitesale on social media (which I'm sure you're all ready to be done with haha! What can I say, I'm in marketing!)

Hope to see you Saturday!

  1. This is the first time I've heard of you - I'm excited to come to your sale. See you Saturday!

    1. Hi! So glad you found me and that you can make it Saturday! Just curious, how did you find me?

  2. Oh my gosh - I would love to pick your brain! I have a vintage Etsy store, but I have been thinking about doing a sale at my home in Tulsa, maybe once or twice a year, and I have been looking for someone who has put one on before, to get some advice. Would love to know how the sale turned out and any and all tips you might be willing to share. Would love to shoot you an email or something if you wouldn't mind! :)

    1. You should do it! It's a ton of work but was one of the best and most fun days of my life - literally! You can see the sale pics right here - http://www.12thandwhite.com/2014/09/pretty-sale-photos-melissa-click.html
