Modern Farmhouse Coffee Table

So I've been working on our hearth room pretty much since we moved in. It has never felt right to me and I'm continually changing things up to try to get it where I want it. I think we've finally moved in the right direction and things are coming together. I'll have a couple other posts on decorating the mantel as well as choosing accessories, but I wanted to share the new coffee table we just got from Joss and Main.

It's sort of a modern-farmhouse look, since that's what I think best suits this room. I really am loving more modern design lately, and would love to inject it even more into our home. I blame instagram for that haha! Doesn't it just make you want to turn your whole house white with gold accents, pops of color, lucite tables, abstract art and trendy decor everywhere?! But, going all on-trend modern just doesn't fit the more cottage-y feel of this room with its wainscoting and charming built-ins. So I tried to channel my inner Joanna Gaines and settle with more of a modern-meets-farmhouse look. There's more to come, but the coffee table and a few pops of color were a start.

I sold the round table we had in here and originally ordered the tufted bench below to replace it (photo from my insta). It ended up not being quite right, so round two is where we are now.

I love the modern lines of the table mixed with the gray-wash top! The accessories on top are just what I had on hand, and I have plans for a different look. I also ordered sconces for either side of the fireplace, just haven't gotten them hung yet. That extra-long mantel is a saga in itself that I'll write a whole post about soon.

I'm excited to be taking a trip next month to Kansas City (to see Chip and Joanna Gaines at the KC home show no less!) and I'll also be hitting up Ikea for a new couch. As long as it's decently comfy, I plan to purchase their Stocksund sofa for this room. I was so happy that I sold a lot of decor I wasn't using and made enough for a new couch! The one we have is comfy but was purchased at Good Will (in good condition but already used), then given to me when I was in college. I've had it since I was 19! Needless to say, it's time.

The new sofa plus a few changes in accessories should mean this room is finally least for now : )

Loving Lately: All Things Peach

Hi friends! Is anyone still out there reading this little 'ol blog? I took quite the hiatus during my pregnancy and after the birth of our daughter, but I am hoping to get back to blogging semi-regularly. I do post almost daily over on Instagram, so for all the latest on what we're up to and updates on our house, please feel free to follow over there! (I also push my IG posts over to Facebook, in case you prefer that platform!)

If you've seen the nursery, it will come as no surprise to you that I love the color peach. But I have to say, having a baby girl has taken that to a whole new level! I like to think of peach as her "signature color" (haha!) and it seems it has also become mine. I thought I'd share a few things I've been lovingly lately in this pretty shade.

1. I've been adding pops of peach to our hearth room and this pretty pillow from Society 6 would be perfect!

2. The Corkcicle is one of my new favorite things! I got it for Christmas in this rose gold color and absolutely love it. It keeps beverages hot for 12 hours and cold for 25...amazing! It was on Oprah's list of favorite things, so you know it has to be good!

3. I bought these skinny cords from Loft in tropical sands (a peachy/taupe color) and absolutely live in them. Comfy and sophisticated.

4. I just found a beautiful peach throw at TJ Maxx for our hearth room, and this pretty one is quite similar. I love the pop it gives to a neutral space! Here it is in our hearth room (photo from my IG feed).

5. Can you have enough Rifle Paper Co? I don't think so! This peach floral phone case is perfection.

6. My current go-to nail polish: OPI's A Great Opera-Tunity. It's what I was wearing on my toes the day our girl was born : )

7. I don't know about you, but I can't get enough of abstract art right now. This peach watercolor is trendy and classy.
8. I recently gifted myself an X ring and can't wait to put it on each morning. Mine is gold, but it's so pretty in rose gold as well!

9. I just had to throw in a few peach baby items : ) I may have bought these Old Navy peach floral leggings in multiple sizes so she can keep on wearing them as she grows!

10. You may recognize this darling peach tutu from the nursery. So precious!

11. This peachy bauble from Joss and Main is just the sort of thing I love to toss on in the morning for everyday glamour.

What color are you loving lately? Have I converted you to the peach-loving camp?!
