Rifle Paper Co. Inspired Botanical First Birthday Inspiration

I have to confess...I've been planning our girl's first birthday basically since before she was born. I know, I know. But I just can't help myself. There is so much beautiful inspiration out there these days, and who doesn't love a pretty and fun party?! Since she's been born, I've used peach and blush as her "theme" colors (aka my favorite tones to purchase for her wardrobe), and I love using anything and everything Rifle Paper Co. So the theme for her first birthday party was an easy one. It will be a Rifle-inspired party with lots of botanicals, peaches, blushes and some gold (similar to her nursery). I've had so much fun gathering inspiration, so I thought I'd share a few of my favorite images that are driving the direction of our little fete.

Modern-Meets-Traditional Living Room Refresh

I have been waiting way too long to share our living room refresh with you guys! It's actually been done for several weeks, but one of my big frames fell off the wall and broke so it's taken me a while to get a new one and get everything photographed. So here we go...

I still love the original look but was ready for something new. Since we are moving in less than a year, I didn't want to spend a lot of money but was itching for a fresh look. The biggest change came from simply rearranging the furniture. Today the room looks like this...

First Birthday Gift Ideas

First, a disclaimer...I promise this blog will not become completely kids/baby-focused. My love and my intent for blogging is still interior design, but because of my season of life I feel like I have several things I'd like to share that are baby/kids related. I hope it will be fun and helpful to most of you reading this. I know I have researched SO much stuff during my pregnancy and then in the first year of our daughter's life, and so many of the great recommendations I found came from other bloggers. I found their advice and product picks to be invaluable as I was registering, getting used to having a new baby, and now entering toddlerhood. Hopefully offering a few favorite ideas of my own will be helpful to you guys, too!

All that said, I can't believe our daughter is about to turn one! Everyone says it - but it really does fly by. I have loved every single minute and tried to soak up every second. Each new stage brings with it a learning curve, and now I'm preparing for her first birthday as her entry into toddlerhood. I have been researching some fun and educational toys that would make great gifts to carry her through her second year of life. I am one of those people who doesn't want tons and tons of toys overrunning the house, but a few well-chosen, special pieces can really go a long way.

Of course, I tried to balance aesthetics with fun and usefulness. It really does make a difference if you don't have the world's ugliest hunk of plastic sitting in your living room for six months in the form of a baby contraption. So, all of these gifts were chosen with both little and mama in mind!
