The Best Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig Trees {And Where We Got Ours}

I know fiddle leaf fig trees have been trending for like, five years now, but I feel like the faux-plant world is just now catching up with the demand. I absolutely love the look of them, but I have a notorious black thumb, and have always been pretty nervous to shell out $100+ on a plant I know I will probably kill. So, faux fiddle leaf trees it is!

I purchased this one (shown in both pics of our house) last August and really love the pop of green it brings. (Unfortunately it is sold out on all the sites I could find it on, but it is supposed to come back in stock in the next month or two.) It's a great faux and I love it hanging out in pretty much any corner of our home. Since it's a four-foot, I've been eyeing a more substantial seven-footer to bring even more drama. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but here are the ones I'm considering that are both beautiful and budget friendly.

The Best Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig Trees

This one probably has my favorite shape out of them all. It's a good price, but the only drawback is it comes in a set of two, so unless you need both, you'll have to find a friend to split it with.

Target has a great faux fiddle, though it's more of a bush than a tree.

This one is finally back in stock from World Market, and with their frequent coupons, it can be a great and affordable choice.

The 4' one we purchased - hopefully back in stock soon!

Pottery Barn's fiddle leaf is a great size and style. I saw it in person in our local store last weekend and it's a beauty, if a bit pricey.

This is probably the one that's at the top of my wishlist! Unfortunately it too is sold out right now, and I've been waiting several weeks for a back in stock email. Worth keeping an eye on!

My runner up pick - classic and very well priced!

It's also worth noting some of the best ones I've seen in people's houses online are from Home Goods. I have checked incessantly to see if our Home Goods has one with no luck. So keep an eye out at your local store and you may just score one! (And if it's in Wichita and you are not in need of a fiddle leaf, please call me ; )

The portfolio of one of my favorite designers is just too good - so much to Pin!

Has anyone else been following Jenna Sue's Cottage House Flip? She revealed it this week and the results are just stunning! You won't believe the before and afters.

I had been thinking of finding a wood playhouse for Lexie this spring, with a hope to paint and redo it. Then I stumbled on this playhouse makeover and it's the perfect darling inspiration!

Target just released tons of new items in their Pillowfort line for kids! I used this ballerina doll throw pillow in the play room and it's so cute and such a great price! (here's the swan head | sparkle pillow | crown pillow | pouf)

This shop on Etsy has some gorgeous vintage oushak rugs at good prices.

I was in Old Navy this week and was impressed with their winter-into-spring looks. I snagged this blush cross body for the warmer months when I don't like to carry a full purse, but was crushing on every shade. I also grabbed these floral shorts for summer (upping my summer shorts-and-v-neck uniform game) and this darling chambray ruffle for Lexie.

Happy weekend friends!

Blush and Peach Playroom Reveal

It's finally here! You guys have been so patient as I put the finishing touches on the playroom, and I am so excited to share it with you today! This space was so much fun to put together, which is very fitting because we have so much fun using it.

Lexie absolutely loves her little canopy reading nook. She loves bouncing in the pillows, closing the canopy around her, and reading books together all snuggled up in the corner. It was such a good addition!

We actually aren't even using all the storage this room has...yet. I'm sure as she grows the toys will grow too (though we try not to go overboard) and I'm so glad to have a place to keep them all.

This cube unit from Target is the perfect solution to keep most of her things, as well as plenty of books. We can just toss everything in at the end of the day and it's all tucked away, but it's all in easy reach for her.

You might have seen my Instagram Stories about this wall art - it's actually framed wrapping paper from Home Goods. I knew what I wanted to do the moment I spotted it in the store. Of course it proved a little more tricky than I thought, and the paper wasn't long enough to fill the size of frame I wanted, so it took a bit of cutting/patching together, but I love how it turned out! You can't beat $5 wall art!

She absolutely loves the play table we got her for Christmas, and I know we'll use it for years to come.

This little horse was a good reminder why I don't really do painting/DIY projects haha! It was a TJ Maxx Christmas find that was natural wood, and I wanted to paint it to match the room. I ended up repainting the peach part about 5 times trying to get the shade right. It finally came together though!

This room is pretty tiny (maybe 10 by 10) so it's proof that a little organization and intentional decor can really go a long way in making a space what you want it to be. Plus she's still so small she doesn't need tons of space to play, so it works perfectly for her.

Thanks so much for taking the tour of our play room! Lexie and I loved sharing it with you!

Happy weekend friends! Yes, this post is a day late (busy week!) but sometimes there's not a lot to read in blogland on the weekends so hopefully this edition of Currently fills the void for you : ) If you follow on Instagram you know I got a new rug for our living room. I'm loving the trend of layering rugs over large natural ones, and this one brings just the right amount of light and bright to the space.

Have you seen Anthro's new spring home line?! It's just so good (and note the layered rug in that picture ; ) And I thought it was so fun to read the behind the scenes of the house where they shot the spring looks soooo different!

Unfortunately we still have the dreaded boob lights in a few of our rooms. I find finding stylish flush mounts at a good price is a bit tricky. I stumbled on this beauty the other day and am in love! I may need to order two for our hearth room. It comes in black too.

This design maven got a new website and her portfolio is perfection.

The Seven Most Asked About Items in Our Home

Hi guys! I thought I'd share what I hope will be a helpful post for many. I get lots of questions about the items used in our home on social media and on the blog. I love finding a great home product recommendations (blogs are so great for that!) so I wanted to share what gets asked about most and my thoughts on each item. Also, just in case you didn't know, there is a complete source list of most everything in our house under the Paint Colors and Resources tab. Check it out if there's something specific you're scoping out!

1. Our Living Room Coffee Table

This coffee table is probably the most asked about item in our home - and for good reason! It's a classic bricklayer coffee table that can go with so many styles. It can go with modern, rustic, farmhouse or industrial looks so easily, and I'm sure many others! It's the Anjou Coffee Table from Home Decorators Collection. We purchased it when we moved into our house three years ago, and are still very happy with it. It is very heavy and solid, and has held up really well. We purchased it before there were stain options, but I would say the closest to our table is the natural.

2. Our Jute Rug

We also get a lot of questions about this 9x12 jute rug from Overstock in our living room. I get asked a lot if it is comfortable and how it holds up. I would not say it is particularly soft. In fact, the first day or two we had it, it hurt my feet. But after we got used to walking on it it wasn't a big deal. It's definitely not plush, but doesn't bother me. It does shed a bit, but I only notice when I try to do yoga on it : ) Overall I'd say it's a classic jute that adds so much texture to a space.

3. Our Hearth Room Sofa

We purchased the Montgomery sofa from Birch Lane when we refreshed the hearth room about a year ago and I. Am. In. Love. It is crazy comfortable, so much so that I almost prefer sleeping on it over our bed! It is nice and deep and very plush and full. I love it so much I'm contemplating getting a second one if we move. I can't yet speak to how the slipcovers hold up in the wash, because we haven't had to wash them yet, but I'll update this post once that happens. I love that it is a classic, timeless shape, but still casual with the slipcovers. I cannot recommend this couch enough!!

4. Our Hearth Room Coffee Table

I love this Yesenia coffee table from Wayfair because it's a nice mix between farmhouse and modern. It has clean lines and a rustic gray wood top. It's also great for our space because it's a smaller size. We've been really happy with it.

5. The Painting Above Our Mantel

This painting may be one of my favorite things we own. Its a statement piece for sure, but is also very neutral and calming. I'm sad to say it was a TJ Maxx online find and it's no longer available : ( If it ever comes back in stock (as things sometimes do on there) I will make sure to let you guys know! If you're looking for something similar, I tried to round up a few similar picks shown below (if you're reading this in an email or reader like Bloglovin, you may need to pop over to the blog to see the photos).

6. Our Nursery Glider

This is probably a close second on the most-asked-about list. I understand the tension when looking for a glider between wanting style, function, comfort and price. Gliders are stupid expensive, and I really don't understand why. The Delta Children Upholstered Glider in Sand is so affordable and we have been very happy with the comfort. I'd buy it again for sure!

7. Our Nursery Flower Mobile

The flower mobile in the nursery is always so popular. I made it myself from flowers from Hobby Lobby and following the tutorial from Jones Design Company. It was pretty easy to make, but there are also a lot of pre-made options on Etsy. The most similar ones I could find are here, here, here and here.

I hope you guys found this helpful! Anything else you'd like to know about?!

Restyling Our Breakfast Nook {Modern Farmhouse}

We have a funny little spot in our hearth room, just off the kitchen that we use as a breakfast nook. I'm not even sure it was meant to be that, but it works very well since it's so close to the kitchen. It has a great built in with shelves and deep cabinets for storage.

Here you can see how it's laid out in the room. The storage is great, but the shelves can be a bit tricky to style because they are very short and narrow. This means everything on them has to be pretty small, which can end up looking cluttered. I've redone the shelves several times since we've lived here, but have never been quite happy with them. I followed my own advice on how to style shelves, and we've definitely made a step in the right direction!

Sometimes I work best when I have an inspiration photo to pull from, so I used this picture as my jumping off point. I wanted to get a similar look, but also wanted to use what I had. I tried to use lots of white as a base and to keep things looking clean instead of cluttered. I only purchased one new thing, so I'd say that's pretty good!

Since I used what I had on hand, the overall look is a bit modern farmhouse, which works very well in this corner. I am loving the pops of peach from these bowls and this plate. I had wanted a full set of the plates to go across the back, but have just the one for now and it brings the perfect modern hit.

We bought this table right before we got married, and it has held up so well. It's a classic pedestal that works with any look.

This is where we eat dinner each night, and it's so nice to have something pretty to look at! Plus the storage for all my serving pieces is a nice bonus. Do you guys have any corners that need some sprucing? I hope this gives you some inspiration to try to rework what you have to make it what you want!
