One Room Challenge 2017 | Week 3 | Modern-Traditional Powder Room

Well...I am probably not the world's greatest One Room Challenge participant haha. I haven't really made any progress to show you in the actual room BUT I did make some purchases and my mom is coming over this weekend to help me wallpaper, so there should be some action by next week!

WEEK 1  |  WEEK 2

I ultimately decided the art I had purchased was too blue and just not quite right. After looking at some inspiration photos (like the one above), I decided I wanted two smaller pieces of art stacked on top of each other to avoid another big rectangle right next to the rectangular mirror. I am in LOVE with the art I chose - both pieces from Minted by the talented artist Angela Simeone. I love the subtle blush in the abstract. I think it'll tie really nicely with the rug.
I got one in an 11x14 and one in an 8x10 and plan to put them in these simple white gallery frames.
I also ordered the mirror I originally had in my mood board (it's back in stock!). The selection of mirrors at my Home Goods lately has been abysmal, and everything else I found online was essentially the same price so I decided to just go for it!

I also ordered a couple accessories for the open shelving, including this great textured planter (I got the gray but am coveting the white also!) and this macrame tray. I made a few accessory scores at TJ Maxx too, so it's coming together.

Hopefully I'll have something much more exciting to show you guys next week! Stay tuned!

Fall House Tour

Well, ok I use that title loosely. I definitely didn't go all-out for fall this year, but kept things pretty simple (read my philosophy on cozying the house here). But here are a few snapshots from around our home this season.

The living room got a dose of texture with a classic wheat wreath, some pumpkins and silver dollar eucalyptus.

I also added this woven basket and pumpkin pillow next to the fireplace. We've never had a gas fireplace before and we LOVE it. It's so nice to flip a switch to instantly make the room feel more cozy.

On the coffee table I layered in some chunky candles and velvet pumpkins. This coffee table is fairly petite so it can be hard to style but I'm really happy with this layout right now.

And this antelope fur throw is one of my absolute favorite things and is SO soft!

A stack of neutral pumpkins is an easy way to dress up our entryway.

Our kitchen always smells delicious thanks to an always-burning pumpkin candle and Mrs. Meyers apple cider counter top spray - love that stuff! Please tell me I'm not the only one who changes the hand soap/counter spray with the seasons haha.

I found the most beautiful white casper pumpkins and sprinkled them all over the house. Lexie loves to carry them around.

On our island I added a black and white bone inlay tray and I have to say I love having a little tray right there. I'm on the hunt for a tiered one for the Christmas season. Love the pop of black and white for October, though.

In the dining room, I added a buffalo check table runner and more candles and pumpkins for a fall tablescape (see a post all about this look here).

While our fall home wasn't too different from usual, it definitely feels cozy and warm in here. It makes me excited to transition to the holidays! Thanks for coming by!

Easy Baby/Toddler Halloween Costume: Sweet Unicorn

Lexie was born the day before Halloween, and last year, after all her first birthday festivities, I wanted a simple and sweet costume I could put together quickly. I think it turned out so completely cute!

As you can see, she was pretty happy with it too : ) I ordered this unicorn headband and added a tutu and sweet gold polka dot moccasins and the costume was complete!

It's hard to tell in these photos but I also placed some gold star stickers on her cheeks around her eyes, and it added such a special touch. I can't get over how precious she is in these photos! This year I have something similar planned, but with her as a deer. I know it will be just as adorable!

This custom home reveal from Bria Hammel Interiors stopped me in my tracks. See part one and part two

This dining room reveal by Lark and Linen is the definition of understated elegance.

I don't typically decorate for Halloween but seeing Garvin and Co's darling Halloween home makes me want to start!

Speaking of Halloween tours, Emily Henderson did the best happy spooky castle in her older home.

Did you see that Target dropped the full preview of the Hearth and Hand line from Joanna Gaines/Magnolia? All I can say is bravo. I absolutely adore pretty much every item, and Joanna did a phenomenal job with a current yet classic curated collection just in time for the holidays. On the top of my list are the plaid doormat, Christmas wreaths, dollhouse, plaid pillows and toy hot chocolate set. The line will be available November 5, and I can't wait!

One of my favorite home sites, LuLu and Georgia, is having their big anniversary sale with 25% off everything! Just use code HBD. Here are a few of my favorite picks

One Room Challenge 2017 | Week Two | Modern-Traditional Powder Room

It's already week two of the One Room Challenge! If you missed it you can see my plans to redesign our main floor powder room here. I don't have a lot to show this week because the wallpaper hasn't arrived yet, and that's really what this whole thing hinges on!

I did stumble on this photo from Brooke Wagner Design and absolutely love it! I was debating between the wallpaper I ordered and more of a shibori/abstract paper like this and now I'm regretting not choosing that haha. But too late now!

The abstract artwork did arrive and is really beautiful. I am still hesitant about whether it will be too blue for the space so we shall see after the wallpaper gets here.

The light also arrived and I LOVE it! It's just beautiful and the scale and quality are phenomenal, especially for the price. The beads looks so high end and it's not sparse at all - very full and grand feeling. I can't wait to see it installed!

I also randomly ordered this little potted succulent from TJ Maxx which looks so much like the Pottery Barn ones. It wasn't necessarily for the powder room but its dusty gray-green color has me wondering if that shade might tie the grays I have planned in with the blue/green in the art.

I have not found quite the right mirror yet, despite checking Home Goods obsessively. Hopefully I'll have something by this time next week!

Best of Instagram: Fall Decor Ideas

Each season I like to do a little round up of some of the best things I'm seeing over on Instagram. There is just so much beauty being shared, and I love that it's not from big magazines or publishing houses, but from women (and men!) just like me who enjoy making the everyday a little prettier. Capturing and sharing the beauty in a moment is one of my very favorite things, and I love that there are so many others doing the same and offering up so much inspiration over on IG. Here are a few of my favorites. The door above from Most_Lovely_Things is just too perfect for words. She also added the darling decal below - so charming!

This fall dessert table from TheCrossDesign is pastel autumn perfection!

The perfect neutral fall mantel from SoMuchBetterWithAge

Michelle_Janeen does black and white right.

Loved this autumn living room from Blue_J_Home

Everything my friend RachelElizabethCreates touches turns to gold, and her fall home is no exception!

A Rustic, simple front porch from BoxwoodAvenue

Love the contrast of the burgundy and white in this image from MrsCraftberryBush

This might be my favorite fall view of the season. Not surprising that KateMarkerInteriors is one of my top three favorite designers!

Love this moody pumpkin bench from House214Design

The sweetest porch from Finding_Lovely

This shot from MonikaHibbs makes me want Thanksgiving to hurry up and get here!

Such a classy entryway from RandiGarrettDesign and I love the oversized velvet pumpkins.

I can't even believe this house, also from Finding_Lovely is real! The perfect October home!
This proves you don't need much to bring in the beauty of the season. by CottonwoodAndCo

I'm usually a neutral girl but this plum porch from LilypadCottage is everything!
The coziest Halloween view by jlgarvin.

If you still need to bring in a bit of fall, you can see my picks for cozying the house here.
