baby/kids / blog / kids spaces
Hello! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? If you follow over on Instagram you probably heard the news that we are expecting our second child in July – a baby boy! I never feel very good during pregnancy so the blog and posting have had to take a bit of a back seat as I’ve focused on staying rested and healthy during pregnancy. Thanks for your patience! I do hope to be back semi-regularly as I’m able.
Now that I’m feeling a bit better in my second trimester I’ve been able to focus more on planning for our little guy. Of course I couldn’t wait to design another nursery space, so wanted to share our plans with you. And doing a nursery means transitioning our girl to a big girl room, so I’ll share those plans soon as well!
First, here are some inspiration images. I knew I wanted everything to feel very soft and calming, as well as classic. There are a lot of really trendy boy rooms out there, which are cute, but I was really leaning to a classic powder blue with white and timeless patterns like buffalo check and stripes.

And here’s my inspiration board
We’ll reuse the major pieces from our existing nursery, like the Jenny Lind crib and probably even our rocker (though we both really want a new one haha – we’ll see).
The jumping off point for me was this constellation wall art (no longer available) with the prettiest soft blue. I thought it was so unique and the color was perfect.
I certainly don’t want everything blue but I’d like to carry through little hints of it through things like the pom pom bins, striped pillow and accessories like the toy train.
I’m planning to have my mom sew the buffalo check curtains, which I think will bring some nice pattern to the space.
I’ve loved the idea of a large masculine monogram above the crib ever since I saw it in Home by Alley’s nursery a few years ago. She incorporated the same round monogram in several places in the nursery, and I love that idea as a personal touch.
Needless to say, I’m excited to get started on this space, and even more excited to meet our boy! I’m nearly halfway through pregnancy so it’s definitely time to start prepping! His wardrobe is almost complete, we’re working on gear like a double stroller and I’m in the throws of researching potty training haha. We can’t wait to meet you this summer, little man!
