Ideas for creating a beautiful fall potting bench with seasonal flowers like mums, yarrow and pumpkins.
We all love fall porch decor, but that’s just one way to bring autumn into your exterior decorating. I had so much fun decking out our potting bench for the season! Our potting bench is so handy when I’m potting plants and flowers in the spring and the fall, but it doesn’t just have to be utilitarian – it can be pretty too!
Keep a collection of beautiful pots and planters, and change them up with the seasons. These scalloped terracotta pots are gorgeous and bring in some subtle fall colors.
Coordinating your fall plants can keep the look cohesive. I like to choose mums and flowers in shades of white and purple.
This year I brought in yarrow, which is a beautiful addition. And cabbage is always such a pretty touch for autumn with its rich purples and deep greens.
Of course pumpkins go absolutely everywhere this time of year. I always gravitate toward cinderella pumpkins for their soft pastel shades, mixed with plenty of classic white pumpkins of course! Stack them on the ground or pile them in a gathering basket.
Since the potting bench should be useful as well as beautiful, be sure
to include the essentials you’ll need as you do your fall planting –
gardening tools, gloves, a watering can, a basket for harvest and other
necessities make the potting bench as convenient as it is pretty.

We have a funny little spot in our hearth room, just off the kitchen that we use as a breakfast nook. I’m not even sure it was meant to be that, but it works very well since it’s so close to the kitchen. It has a great built in with shelves and deep cabinets for…
Well, it’s finally finished! Our new couch arrived and the hearth room is all set. Of course there are a couple other things I’d love to tweak down the road (like the light fixtures and pillow mix), but overall the room is complete. [Complete source list at the bottom of this post] I am…
Seven weeks, fourteen hours of wallpapering, two turkish rugs and it’s all finally over! The One Room Challenge is in the books and I’m so excited to share our completed powder room with you guys today. I’m so happy with how everything turned out! It took this space from basic to filled with pattern and…

What I love about our house is that it’s a completely blank slate. It has great molding, nice flooring and a pretty neutral color on all the walls. But some spaces can look a little blah. From the moment we moved in I knew I wanted to give our main floor powder room a little…
